Why "Levada"?

Levada refers to the irrigation channels to be found in every part of the beautiful volcanic island of Madeira. The name is, therefore, something of a tribute to the ladies who produce these superb tapestries and who have long been the cornerstone of this cottage industry.

Our tapestries are produced in Madeira using the finest quality Australian wool, dyed in Portugal. Each kit comes with wool to finish the actual design leaving the customer to purchase separately the background wool in a colour to suit their own particular décor.

We are constantly introducing new designs and this website will evolve in line with these changes.

However, we feel sure that amongst the current selection of Cushions, Chairseats, Doorstops, Firescreens etc you will find designs to suit all tastes and cover all levels of expertise.
